- Proposition 8 is NOT about civil rights. Gay couples in a domestic partnership already receive the same rights as married couples in California (i.e. Registered domestic partners shall have the same rights, protections, and benefits, and shall be subject to the same responsibilities, obligations, and duties under law, whether they derive from statutes, administrative regulations, court rules, government policies, common law, or any other provisions or sources of law, as are granted to and imposed upon spouses.)
- California voters already let their voices be heard and voted in favor of preserving marriage. The courts should not decide the will of the people!
- Although the opposition says that our children will not be affected, THEY WILL. Look at what is happening in Massachusetts: 1st graders are being read fairy tales about princes falling in love with other princes, and parents were told they had no right to know when these types of lessons were being taught, and NO RIGHT to decide if their child received this lesson. If prop 8 does not pass, parents will lose their rights.
- Religious freedom is endanger of being infringed upon. Churches may be forced to perform same-sex marriages!
I hope that everyone will take the time to think these things over. I take no issue with those couples who decide to live in a same-sex relationship, I simply want to preserve the meaning of one word: Marriage. Marriage is sacred, please help preserve it!
